One spaniel, one labrador. But only one ball.
Over the course of the Christmas break I took these out a few times. They're different in age, breed, colour, and temperament, but throw them a ball and it's as if nothing else in the world matters.
The remarkable thing about the snap above - which I fortuitously acquired - is that it represents one of several hundred instances over the course of two hours.
It also represents 50% of the usual outcomes. This time the lab just got lucky.
I suppose there's some kind of metaphor ready for the plucking here.
